Volunteer Opportunities

vol2Some say volunteering is a political act, a way to create positive change with your own two hands. We say making change has never been so much fun.

Volunteer and Become a Trained Advocate with the Atlanta Local Food Initiative

The Atlanta Local Food Initiative needs your help to take urban ag to the next level in Atlanta.

The City of Atlanta will release a new urban agriculture zoning ordinance soon, and we need strong, educated advocates to help make sure the legislation passes.

We’re hosting three advocacy trainings to explain the new urban agriculture zoning ordinance, and by the end of the training YOU will be a voice for the local food movement in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Local Food Initiative (ALFI) has been working on the ordinance alongside Georgia Organics, the city of Atlanta’s Office of Sustainability, Turner Environmental Law Clinic, a network of urban farmers, and other partners.

More information on the ordinance and why it matters.

Monday, June 3, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Thursday, June 6, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Tuesday, June 11, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Sign up to attend a training here.

If you are unable to attend an Urban Ag Advocacy Training session but would still like to help, please go here to fill in your contact information and area of town

Send us your events!

Anywhere, GA

The “Events” section of our website is intended to be a one stop shop resource for all fun organic food and farm related events in the state.  We need your help learning about events that are happening in your area.  Please forward public invitations or event postings to Stephanie Hass at stephanie@georgiaorganics.org and we will do our best to get them up on our site.

Office Volunteers

We are a small staff and the truth is that we owe the scale of our impact to the volunteer support we receive in the office.  If you have daytime availability and you are in the Atlanta area, please give us a call to schedule a time to work with us.  Let us know if you have a particular skill set that you think we may be able to utilize or if you are interested in acquiring new skills for your resume.  We want this to be a mutually beneficial experience.  Contact Stephanie if you are interested at Stephanie@georgiaorganics.org or 678-702-0400.
