In many ways, Athens is the epicenter of Georgia’s agricultural wisdom, primarily because of the University of Georgia’s renowned agriculture school. “Reclaiming Agriculture” will engage the energy of the Athens good food community, especially focusing on the students, faculty and farms of UGA and the robust cultural scene of the city through farm tours, expert speakers, and in-depth workshops on sustainable food and farms. Highlights include:
- 10 farm tours
- 70+ presenters on topics including composting, beekeeping, mushrooms, herbs, cheesemaking, farm labor, farm to school and much more
- 70 exhibitors and an Expo open to the public for the first time in conference history
- 4 local, sustainable meals
- A dream team of southern chefs led by James Beard Award winner Hugh Acheson
- 2 book signings
- 1 Farmers Feast featuring Carlo Petrini
Plus: a children's program, silent auction, live music, local crafts, and a seed swap.
Registration for the conference is currently open for members and public registration opens January 8th.
