Chef Asata wears many hats: chef, writer, media personality and farmers market guru. She can be found all over Atlanta doing chef demos and making the world a healthier place, one plate at a time.
In addition to working at Truly Living Well and raising her own family, Chef Asata is also a key part of our farm to school team. She’s led countless workshops with cafeteria staff, teaching everything from knife skills to kid-friendly recipes. (She even led a workshop about cooking with kids at our 2013 conference!)
“She is really committed to empowering kids with the knowledge they need to make healthy choices, and to empowering the adults in kids’ lives to do the same,” said our Farm to School Assistant Emily Rose.
Chef Asata’s passion for local, seasonal ingredients from our farmers is also reflected in the recipes she creates for Garnish & Gather, like Baked Polenta with Mushroom Paprikash and Garlicky Greens. This woman is a force!
