And the American Farmland Trust has this amazing graphic that details how farmers markets can benefit growers and our communities. The Trust is also running a cool campaign where folks can pledge to support their local market by spending $10 a week there.
As you’ll note in the graphic, $10 spent at your farmers market can put up to $7.80 back in your community. A 2010 University of Georgia study found that if everyone in our state spent $10 at their local farmers market, it would pumo over $1.9 billion back into Georgia’s economy.
It’s going to be a farmers market lovefest all week over at our Facebook page, so stay tuned for more reasons why they’re the bee’s knees!
