Clenney Insurance of Blakely, Inc. was founded in 2006 by Brad Clenney. With a foundation in farming and agriculture, Brad began his independent insurance agency in order to focus on farm and agricultural insurance to offer solutions and service to the needs of farmers. Brad holds a B.B.A. in Management from Georgia Southwestern State Univ. and also holds the Accredited Adviser Designation from the Insurance Institute of America. While farm and Ag insurance are a large part of what they do, CIB is also able to place home, auto, business, and other commercial insurance needs.
How does farming cross the line between personal and commercial coverage?
Many farmers live and work there on the farm. This exposure rules out a standard homeowner’s policy due to the commercial exposure. Commercial policies do not cover homeowner’s exposures therefore making a farm package the right fit for the farmer. Many times there is also a gap in personal liability and commercial liability however the right farm policy can blend these exposures so the gap is closed and coverage is in place correctly.
Farm insurance is not a “one size fits all” financial product, thus making it critical to work with a farm and agricultural insurance specialist CIB works with the farmer to find the right insurance product at the most competitive price available with our carriers. Farmers should be aware of the experience and expertise of their agent in this line of insurance. While CIB does not have “farm” in it’s corporate name, we are devoted and here for our farmers throughout the State to offer the best service, value, and advice in the farming and agricultural world.
What types of coverage should be the first ones farmers think about?
It depends on the operations and size of the farm. The two driving coverage’s are liability and property. These two lines of coverage are critical to the farm operations and financial security to continue the farm in the event of a loss. This ties into the factors that affect coverage’s. A poultry farmers main concern may be business income and extra expense coverage along with equipment breakdown coverage whereas a row crop farmer’s main concern may be the large equipment coverage.
What’s product insurance, and why do farmers need it?
Product and Completed Operations Liability Insurance is a sub limit coverage under the Farm Liability policy. This coverage is critical for those farmer’s who may sell their product at a farmer’s market, to a wholesaler, or in a retail operations.
What’s on-farm liability insurance? What type of coverage would farms need to protect themselves from accidents to visitors….or even what happens if a cow gets out and car hits it?
On farm liability insurance is again part of the overall farm liability insurance policy which is customized to meet each farmer’s needs and exposures. If a farmer has Agri-tainment exposures, this is something we would discuss and endorse the policy to cover just as if he/she had livestock and suffered a loss where an animal breached the fencing.
