Win it at the Market: Organic Mountains

Our farmers and local vendors appreciate everyone who comes to our markets every week. For all the folks who go the extra mile and bring a new person along to one of our My Market Club markets, we want to thank you! As a token of our gratitude, each month, My Market Club will hold a raffle for great free prizes. Bring a friend who is new to the market along on your next visit! They’ll get $5 and you’ll be entered to win free goodies from your favorite local vendors.

This month, the raffle prizes at Decatur Farmers Market, Westside Provisions District Farmers Market, and East Atlanta Village Farmers Market come from Atlanta’s own Organic Mountains Raw Honey. They specialize in local raw honey and honey-based beauty products. We asked John Wright of Organic Mountains a few questions to get to know a little bit more about them. omhoney

How did you get started in the business
My father took an interest in honeybees as a child as he watched and shadowed his grandfather who was a beekeeper. My dad was given 10 beehives on his 10th birthday and he’s never looked back. In 2010 I was inspired to bring our honey not only to a different market than we have ever tapped into but to bring it to market in a more updated and innovative way. Since then it has been fun to see the family business expand in a new direction.
What’s your favorite thing about your market?

My favorite thing about my market is the market guests that I get to know. They practically become friends of mine! I also love how much they want to be educated on the benefits and many uses of local honey.

What is your number one passion outside of work?

My number one passion outside of work is furthering my exploration and learning of holistic health and wellness; mind, body, spirit.

What’s your favorite food or recipe?

My favorite food is home made chunky guacamole.

A big thank you to Organic Mountains for your donation to My Market Club!
