The Daily Dirt

Georgia Organics is proud to welcome our new Director of Programs Amber Suitt to our team.  Keep reading to learn more about our newest Georgia Organics staff member.

What was your previous job?

I was an Outreach Coordinator at The Common Market. I focused on procurement for hospitals, community organizations, early learning centers, public schools, and retail.

Who/What inspired you to do the work you are doing for Georgia Organics?

My family inspired me to do this work. Wanting to prevent the diet-related illnesses that many family members have suffered from stimulated my initial interest to work in the food system. This interest evolved into a passion and understanding that food is the answer to many issues that I am passionate about. All of my experiences have prepared me to take on this role and inspire my desire to build upon the great work done thus far.

What do you hope to accomplish at Georgia Organics?

I am determined to support our programmatic work so that we continue to transform how food is grown, accessed and enjoyed throughout Georgia. I look forward to doing some great work with great people, and also continuing to develop my ability to contribute even more to this movement. If I eat a lot of good food along the way, I won’t complain at all.

What is your spirit vegetable or fruit?

My spirit vegetable is the collard. I’m sturdy and grow in harsher conditions, I nourish those who know me, and I’m southern through and through.
