On Sept. 29, Georgia Organics took participants on a food journey from the soil of Love is Love farm to their plate. Participants learned essential food preparation techniques (like knife skills!) while discovering healthy meal planning and increasing vegetable consumption.
The afternoon kicked off with a tour of Love is Love farm with farmer and Georgia Organics Board Chair Joe Reynolds where participants saw firsthand how organic veggies are grown and managed. Then they joined Chefs Nancy Campbell and Lynn Sawicki for a two hour hands-on culinary immersion in cooking fresh, seasonal vegetables, and legumes sourced straight from the farm. Attendees wrapped up the day with a delicious vegetarian meal!
When asked what they liked most, participants said they enjoyed
- Communal feel of class
- “The Cooking!”
- “A wide variety of content and knowledgeable leaders. And the food was super delicious”
- “Hands on cooking and Nancy’s knife skills lessons”
- Farm tour
- “Cooking in teams and the excellent meal afterwards. I also enjoyed how fresh everything was.”
We are looking forward to hosting more events like this in the future. Stay tuned!
