Lori Freeman is the Co-founder of Land-to Hand, Inc. Land to Hand creates community connectedness by bringing together farmers and consumers and to develop a more sustainable approach in managing our two local farmers markets in Houston County. She is dedicated to promoting organic, sustainable, and locally grown foods throughout the Middle Georgia region.
Lori will be hosting the Fermentation and Happy Microbes Saturday session.
What role do you play in the local, organic food movement?
We work with community leaders, farmers, and business owners to create a local food system in Middle Georgia and connect to other food movements across the state. Our markets ensure fresh, quality foods are available year-round. We also love showcasing our farmers and chefs through various food events.
Why are you excited to present your topic? What are some key takeaways attendees will get from your session?
I’m always excited to educate consumers on the benefits of lacto-fermentation and explaining ways they can use traditional cooking principles to preserve the harvest and ensure the most nutrient dense foods are available to feed family and friends. Attendees will learn how easy it is to ferment vegetables and beverages.
What are you looking forward to at the Georgia Organics conference?
I’m looking forward to the other educational sessions and of course the Farmer’s Feast is a highlight. I really enjoy sharing a great meal with like-minded people!
