GFON Spotlight: Paula Kreissler

We’re proud to be celebrating Healthy Savannah’s Executive Director of Health, Paula Kreissler!

Launched during the summer of 2007 by then-mayor Otis Johnson, Healthy Savannah is dedicated to making Savannah a healthier place to live, specifically by increasing opportunities for citizens to engage in physical activity and consume a nutritious, balanced diet. It strives to achieve this mission by: creating an environment that makes a healthy choice an easy choice, building a collaborative network that identifies and shares resources, collecting and disseminating information, promoting best practices and supporting innovative programs, and advocating for effective policies.

After retiring from FedEx, Paula relocated from southwest Missouri to Georgia in 2004 and has been with Healthy Savannah since its inception as one of the driving forces behind the coalition’s success. Paula believes that making the healthy choice the easy choice is the best way to promote community wellness, and continues to devote her time and energy to making the vision of Healthy Savannah a reality. Under Paula’s leadership and 150+ community partners, Healthy Savannah is transforming the landscape of their city– from expanding the Forsyth Farmers Market and developing faith-and-nutrition initiatives, to healthy corner stores and zoning that supports resident gardens, beekeeping, and back-yard chickens. To Paula and Healthy Savannah partners, thanks for being a bright spot for us to follow! Visit www.healthysavannah.org to learn more!
