Georgia Organics will host a Farmer Field Day: Building Resiliency on Georgia Farms on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Gilliard Farms in Brunswick, GA.  Gilliard Farms, a 50-acre family-owned farm in Brunswick, Georgia, is run by siblings Matthew and Althea Raiford. Dedicated to sustainable agriculture, they produce high-quality, locally grown heirloom vegetables, fruits, and herbs using environmentally friendly methods. Matthew and his Wife Tia also operate Strong Roots 9, a culinary and wellness value-added product extension of Gilliard Farms. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about proactive preparation, risk management, and financial sustainability strategies from representatives from UGA Extension, NRCS (Natural Resource Conservation Service, RMA (Risk Management Agency) and SBDC (Small Business Development Center). We will finish the field day with a farm tour, where attendees will hear from Matthew, Althea and Tia Raiford, owners and operators of Gilliard Farms & Strong Roots 9. 

 
Attendees will be served lunch from CheFarmers Matthew & Tia Raiford and leave with several climate-smart resources.
