For some farming operations or individuals, the costs of a marketplace insurance plan can be incorporated into the operation’s business plan and budget. However, navigating the marketplace and understanding how to best utilize insurance can be intimidating, and costs can still be prohibitive.

Open enrollment for 2018 coverage in the marketplace begins November 1, 2017 and ends December 15, 2017. For those that are interested in exploring coverage options, there are resources to assist in the process, including resources to determine what, if any, subsidies you may qualify for.

Below are educational videos developed from our partners at Georgians for a Healthy Future. For more information on navigating the health insurance marketplace, check out their Get Insured. Stay Insured toolkit.

Topics and templates include:

  • Application Guide
  • Budgeting insurance costs
  • Finding a primary care provider
  • Tax credits worksheets

The Georgia Consumer Guide for Medical Bills and Debt is a another useful reference for topics such as:

  • Considerations before making a doctor’s appointment
  • Reading and understanding your Explanation of Benefits
  • Handling debt collectors
  • Filing for bankruptcy
