Atlanta’s Food Movement: Stories From Local Food Leaders
October 29 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pmFREE
The Atlanta organic food movement is gaining momentum. The visible results are the output of decades of less visible work, and we couldn’t think of two better Georgians to tell their stories than Alice Rolls and Ashley Rodgers. Both women have made huge contributions to the organic food movement in Georgia and we think you’ll be inspired by them! During a Q&A, you’ll also hear from Zac, Fresh Harvest co-founder, about how FH started 7 years ago and our plans for the future.
Alice Rolls is the CEO of Georgia Organics. Under her leadership, the number of certified organic farms in Georgia went from just 25 certified organic farms, to now over 130, with a goal of having 200 certified organic farms by 2020. Called, “the Woman Scaling Up Organics in the Deep South”, Alice will be sharing her food story with us, and the importance of Organics.
Ashley Rodgers, owner and operator of Rodgers Greens & Roots Organic Farm (RGR) has been farming in Georgia for over 9 years. Named for her late father, RGR is the manifestation of the dream she’s always wanted, “I can have the business and be the entrepreneur that [my dad] didn’t get to have or be.” Ashley will be sharing about her farming story and why there’s nothing she’d rather be doing than growing organic vegetables.
What: Come hear stories from local food leaders over wine & cheese. You’ll have the chance to learn, ask questions, and meet other people passionate about the organic food movement in Georgia.
