Georgia Organics is hosting an H-2A Employee and Labor Management Practices Farmer Field Day (FFD) on Monday, Mar. 11, 2024 at Jenny Jack Farm in Pine Mountain, GA. Join us from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a day spent on a diversified, Certified Naturally Grown farm, learn and discuss labor management considerations, and learn about the H-2A employee program from Marcus Kingsley, VP of Growth at másLabor, an organization that facilitates farms signing up for the program. 

This Farmer Field Day will be in two segments. First, Jenny and Chris, owners and operators of Jenny Jack Farm, will guide participants through a one-hour walking farm tour where they will highlight their growing methods, on-farm market, and business relationships with nearby farms.  They’ll cover their experience with managing employees and how the farm set up facilitates or hinders their efforts. They’ll also discuss their farm journey with farm workers and where they are today. Afterward, Marcus Kingsley will lead a workshop engaging farmers in the specifics of applying to the H-2A employee program in Georgia where he will review the basics of the H-2A program, its requirements, and what to expect with the ever-changing political landscape.  

Georgia Organics will host a Farmer Field Day: Climate Smart Grazing & Pasture Management on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Deep Grass Graziers in Fitzgerald, GA. Deep Grass Graziers raises grass fed and finished beef on land that the family has farmed for four generations. 

This field day is aimed at ranchers who want to learn more about rotational grazing, bale grazing, and forage/pasture management. Dan Glenn, owner/operator of Deep Grass Graziers, will be on hand to discuss grazing strategies, forage management and business and marketing tips for grassfed beef. Philip Brown, state grazing specialist for NRCS will provide details on forage management and cover the NRCS Bale/Swath grazing initiative. We will finish the field day with a farm tour, where attendees can get a visual of all principles discussed in the presentations. 

Georgia Organics, and the Georgia ACRE Collective are hosting a Farmer Field Day (FFD) on Monday, February 26 in Mansfield, GA. This exciting workshop will be hosted at Love is Love Cooperative Farm with community partners, The Common Market Southeast and The Conservation Fund.  

Attendees of this Farmer Field Day will get an in-depth look at their harvest, post-harvest and packaging processes at Love is Love Cooperative Farm. Come learn about harvesting, post-harvest cleaning and packaging processes, along with food safety and scaling for wholesale considerations. 

Georgia Organics is hosting an Organic Growers Farmer Field Day (OGFFD) on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Keysville, GA. Organic Growers Farmer Field Days are educational workshops specifically geared towards transitioning and Certified Organic farmers.  

The field day will include two farm tours and an educational session. The farm tours will take place at Adderson’s Fresh Produce and Starlit Roots, and attendees will learn about cooperative Organic farm supplies and inputs purchasing and collective farming practices. During the educational session, attendees will learn from Augusta Locally Grown and The Common Market Southeast about accessing local Organic markets, consumer buying trends, regional buying needs, values-based procurement, and benefits of wholesale selling for diverse, local producers. 

Georgia Organics is hosting an Organic Growers Farmer Field Day (OGFFD) on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Global Growers in Conyers, GA. Organic Growers Farmer Field Days are educational workshops specifically geared towards transitioning and Certified Organic farmers.  

The field day will include a farm tour and an educational session, where Global Growers program staff and farmers will talk about cooperative Organic certification and production, market and land access, and co-farming models.

This exciting 3-part networking and educational workshop will take place at Gannon Organics, a sustainable, diversified, and transitioning to Organic farm serving the local Savannah community.

Georgia Organics will host a Farmer Field Day (FFD) on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at 9:30 AM that will take place at Bread & Butter Farms in Sparta, GA. Bread & Butter Farms is a Certified Organic farm supplemented by a large-scale mushroom operation, an on-site restaurant, an online shop, and cured meats that stem from a farm-to-table business model. 

This field day is aimed at farmers who want to learn more about diversifying and expanding their business model and gain a working knowledge of small engine service and outdoor power equipment repair. Attendees will learn how to diagnose and troubleshoot the common problems associated with lawnmowers, tillers, weed eaters, and chainsaws. 

Georgia Organics is hosting an Organic Growers Farmer Field Day (OGFFD) on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023 at Grateful Pastures Farm in Mansfield, GA. Organic Growers Farmer Field Days are educational workshops specifically geared towards transitioning and Certified Organic farmers.  

This field day is to support transitioning and current Certified Organic growers looking to start or expand their livestock production and learn more about the Organic Certification process. Farmers will hear from the only Certified Organic poultry farm in Georgia on how they run a successful operation and will gain practical knowledge on how to build a profitable farm business. 

Georgia Organics partners with Crystal Organic Farm, UGA Extension, and Seven Springs Farm Supply to provide technical education for farmers on integrated pest management in Organic crop production.

Join us on Tuesday, June 27 from 10:30 - 2:30 p.m. at Crystal Organic Farm (Newborn, GA) for this exciting educational workshop, featuring UGA Extension Specialists in entomology and plant pathology, and a Crop Adviser from Seven Springs Farm Supply.
